La Plagne resort description & ski information
The ski resort of La Plagne is an inviting collection of ten villages, all with accommodation that is practically on the slopes. Linked to neighbouring Les Arcs by the double decker Vanoise Express cable car, it makes up part of the Paradiski area, which with two glaciers reaching to heights of over 3000m, forms one of the biggest snow-sure skiing areas in the world. La Plagne is a popular choice for families and mixed groups because of its varied range of skiing, and the promise of even more runs to explore across the valley.
Skiing in La Plagne
With numerous red and blue runs spread across the mountainside, La Plagne has plenty to offer for beginner and intermediate skiers. There are also a number ski schools in the villages, and an abundance of nursery slopes for those just finding their ski feet. For more challenging ski routes, the more experienced skier and snowboarder can take a guide out across the Bellecôte glacier at 3257m. Alternatively take a trip to Les Arcs and tackle the ski slopes of the Aiguille Rouge. Snowboarders have a lot of choice here, with four snow parks in total, including 3 boarder cross and a half pipe, whilst there is plenty of opportunity to head off-piste for snow boarders and skiers alike.
The Resort & Ski Accommodation Info
All ten villages have their own atmosphere, complete with shops, bars and restaurants, and it is easy to get from village to village with the free shuttle bus service. Ski France offers comfortable chalet, apartment and hotel accommodation in many of the La Plagne villages. In Plagne Soleil we have Chalet Iona and Chalet India. Here too we also feature the brand new Hotel Vancouver and Residence Sun Valley. Meanwhile in La Plagne 1800 we have the Chalet Trolles and Chalet Marmotte. In addition to these we have the Lodges des Alpage and Chalets des Alpage which offer great value self catering accommodation right next to the ski slopes. So you should be able to find a base that suits your needs. Those not exhausted by the slopes have plenty of other options, with an ice rink, fitness centre and pool on site, as well as various companies offering paragliding, snowshoeing, dog sledging, and even paintballing. If you haven’t had enough of hurtling down hillsides, the bobsleigh run is an absolute must. It drops an incredible 1.5km and you can reach speeds of up to 110kph.
