Val d'Isere - Resort description & ski information

With almost guaranteed snow from November to May, Val d'Isère will push you to your limits day and night with some truly wonderful skiing and vibrant nightlife. While the outskirts of the resort are mostly modern, the village centre still offers charming Savoyard style and is packed with places to eat, drink, shop and party. Along with Tignes, this resort forms the immense Espace Killy which offers almost year-round skiing and 300km of slopes.

Skiing in Val d'Isère

Beginners may be limited to the gentle nursery slopes in La Daille and the main village, but everyone else has free run of the mountains in Val d'Isère. Le Solaise offers some great blue runs, whilst the Le Fornet glacier has some quieter, higher intermediate slopes with stunning views. Bellevarde meanwhile offers some excellent runs at all levels, including La Face - a terrifying Olympic black. On top of all that, you have access to a world-class snowpark and some truly fantastic off-piste. And of course, there is still Tignes to explore for yet more glacier skiing; see our page on Tignes for more information.

The resort

The hard skiing is followed by hard partying here, with endless happy hours in an array of lively bars and clubs. Restaurants and fast-food joints abound, and you'll never be short of choice. As well as that you've got plenty of shopping and a cinema to enjoy. Off-piste activities meanwhile include everything from skating and swimming to snowshoeing, dog sledging and hiking.
