There’s a buzz in the MV office this month, and it’s not just because the sun has come out! We’re extremely excited to announce the addition of a brand new property to our collection, located in our very own hometown of Chambéry. But that’s not the only reason we’re even more exhilarated than usual – this property is something a little different from our other hotels – it’s a château!
Beautiful views, a pristine pool, and genuinely luxurious bedrooms; welcome to Le Château de Candie.
The Château itself.
The 4-star Château dominates an elevated position surrounded by forests, with views over the valley, and the Bauges and the Chartreuse mountains beyond. Nestled within four acres of land, this is fairy-tale living at its best, with rolling vineyards, landscaped gardens and even a tower! As well as an outdoor swimming pool and sun terrace, the Château has a range of reflexology and back massage treatments available, for ultimate relaxation and escapism.
A traditional Château in both looks and period, Candie dates back to the 14th century. The pale stone building forms the main Château and annexes, and there’s even an alpine chalet in the grounds, for those looking for ultimate peace and quiet. The Château encompasses traditionalism, while providing modern luxuries.
Staying at the Château.
Accommodation is offered in the form of Classic, Superior, and Executive rooms, plus there are suites for families who need a bit more space. All rooms are large with that solid, comfortable feeling only a Château provides. Pastel decor is paired with light wooden floorboards and doors, with double ended slipper bathtubs in the bathrooms. If you fancy the full fairytale castle experience, our Executive rooms feature four-poster beds with drapings, thick carpet, and heavy curtains – perhaps even with the odd chandelier here and there!
There are two restaurants at the Château; La Cantine, an informal bistro with a terrace overlooking the pool and the valley beyond, which serves rustic lunches, and L’Orangerie, our gourmet restaurant offering set taster menus for dinner.
Rooms start from £309 for three nights for two people.
Location: Chambéry
Located just 15 minutes from Chambéry, Château de Candie benefits from being within reach of the renowned 3 Valleys ski domain as well as being close to Grenoble, Annecy and a few kilometres from beautiful Lake Bourget and the spa town of Aix Les Bains. Our bias aside, Chambéry itself is beautiful, with a pedestrianised Old Town with winding cobbled streets, 15th-century buildings and a good selection of restaurants, shops, and bars to choose from. Visitors will also find the local markets running six times a week, providing a colourful world of authentic French produce from which to sample a little of our local life.
Being the capital of the Savoie region in the Alps, Chambéry sits as the gateway to the resorts of the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys. Not only are these resorts fantastic in the winter months, with good snow cover providing excellent skiing, but during the summer, the Alps become a hive of outdoor activities, from mountain biking to swimming and rock climbing.
Set in the French alpine countryside, activities here revolve around our great outdoors! Lake Bourget, France’s largest lake, has beaches which are popular in the summer, from which boats are sailed across the lake, while water skiing and even scuba diving is popular.
There are three nature parks on Chambéry’s doorstep. Bauges, Vanoise and Chartreuse, with unlimited trails around this area, whether you’re on foot, exploring by bike, by donkey or even paragliding. Bauges presents stunning views, plus waterfalls to photograph. The Vanoise is populated with wild mountain goats, plus there are even bearded vultures and golden eagles to spot!
We can’t wait to welcome you to our brand new property, Le Château de Candie, and we’re expecting this one to be really popular, so book early and don’t miss out! We hope to see you there.
