Our 4 star hotel, Le Château de Candie, is located 10 minutes from Chambéry by car and enjoys an elevated position, surrounded by forest and with views over the valley and surrounding mountains.

The capital of Savoie, historic Chambéry, lies in an enviable position halfway between Grenoble and Annecy and a few kilometres from beautiful Lake Bourget and the spa town of Aix Les Bains. Nestled in a valley between the Bauges and Chartreuse massifs, Chambéry is the gateway to the ski resorts of the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys.

The hotel

A veritable french Chateau, dating back to the 14th Century, the Candie estate sits in 6 hectares of grounds complete with its own vineyard, gardens and swimming pool (from June 1st to mid-Sept). The swimming pool is open (but not heated).

The property comprises the main Chateau along with a number of interesting annexes including an alpine-style chalet and even a tower, providing magical rooms in which to enjoy a true fairytale castle experience!

The Chateau is decorated in a classical style, with all the rooms individually furnished and with luxury facilities. Satellite TV, free wifi of course included in all rooms. Mini-bar: additional fees.

Chambéry

Nestled in a valley between the Bauges and Chartreuse massifs, Chambéry is the gateway to the ski resorts of the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys.

Chambéry's pedestrianized old town is a maze of cobbled streets with pretty buildings dating back to the 15th century. There are a great selection of restaurants, boutique shops and café/bars. Chambéry's own castle, Le Chateau des Ducs de Savoie, is worth a visit with it's free museum giving an insight into the fascinating history of Savoie.

Activities

In the summer months, Lake Bourget (the largest natural lake in France), offers the perfect place for bathing and all manner of water sports. The Bauges and Chartreuse massifs are both within 30 minutes drive and offer unspoilt alpine landscapes and villages, perfect for hiking. Cyclists will enjoy the challenges of a number of routes in the Chambéry valley such as the Tour du Lac du Bourget or the Relais du Chat climb. Rock climbers will find a selection of accessible sport routes and via ferratas within a 30 minute radius.

Chambéry's undoubted attraction in the winter is it's proximity to France's best ski resorts. You can access almost every ski resort in the northern alps within 2 hours drive of Chambéry, with the closest resort, La Féclaz at only 30 minutes drive and the huge 3 Valleys at just over an hour away.

30 minutes to the north you'll find picture-postcard Annecy with it's charming old town and beautiful lake. The spa town of Aix Les Bains and it's baths and casino is only 15 minutes away on the shores of Lake Bourget. Grenoble is 40 minutes to the south and beautiful Lyon is only 1 hour to the west.

Check-in

Check-in is from 3pm onwards. The keys are available at the reception on presentation of your voucher. Please inform us in advance if you intend to arrive earlier than 3pm.

Late Arrival

The hotel reception is open 24 hours per day and therefore you can check-in at any time after 3pm.

Payment conditions

Madame Vacances offers 3 options for payment:

1) Pay in 3 instalments if booked more than 60 days prior to arrival:
- 15% deposit at time of booking, 15% payment 60 days prior to arrival & 70% payment 30 days prior to arrival

2) Pay in 2 instalments if booked more than 30 days prior to arrival:
- 30% deposit at time of booking & 70% payment 30 days prior to arrival

3) Pay in 1 payment (always available and obligatory if booked less than 30 days prior to arrival)
- 100% at time of booking

Additional Extras:
- Any extras added more than 30 days prior to arrival will be added to final payment
- Any extras added after final payment to be paid at time of addition to booking

Cancellation conditions

- If you choose Standard Conditions

If the client cancels a reservation the following amounts will be retained:
-More than 30 days before the date of arrival: 30% of the price of the holiday
-Between 30 days and 21 days before arrival: 45% of the price of the holiday
-Between 20 days and 8 days before arrival: 60% of the price of the holiday
-Between 7 days and 4 days before arrival: 90% of the price of the holiday
-Less than 3 days before arrival: 100% of the price of the holiday

- If you choose Non Refundable Conditions

As part of the low price non-refundable offer, in the case of a cancellation you will be invoiced for the total amount at any time
